NasDem Youth Guard Holds Second Congress, Prananda: A Momentum to Forge Future Leaders
Garda Pemuda NasDem is regarded as a wellspring for the emergence of progressive national leadership. That spirit underpins the Second Congress of Garda Pemuda NasDem, held in conjunction with the organisation’s 15th anniversary.
Carrying the theme “Independent Youth, Sovereign Nation”, the event took place at the Mercure Ancol Hotel in Jakarta on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The congress marks a crucial moment for organisational consolidation as well as a forum to strengthen the commitment to building a young generation of character, competitiveness, and capable of serving as the foundation for an advanced Indonesia.
In his address, the General Chairman of Garda Pemuda NasDem, Prananda Surya Paloh, revealed that the organisation’s journey over the past eight years has been marked by various challenges and dynamics. He stressed, however, that these have not dampened Garda Pemuda NasDem’s spirit to remain a space for cadre formation and an engine of change.
“I would be disappointed if Garda Pemuda NasDem were seen merely as a car park attendant. But I am proud that Garda Pemuda NasDem continues to be counted as one of the youth organisations in this country. That is why we must continue to rally young energy, be part of the great cadre base of the NasDem Party, and spearhead the restoration of Indonesia,” Prananda asserted.
According to him, eight years of the organisation’s journey have laid a strong foundation. The Second Congress is expected to be the starting point for sharpening the direction of the struggle in facing more complex future challenges.
“The past eight years were the foundation. The days ahead are our shared momentum to build the greatness of Garda Pemuda and the NasDem Party. This congress must become a momentum for consolidating ideas, refreshing the formation, and igniting a new spirit,” he added.
Beyond the opening ceremony, the first day of the Second Congress featured various important agenda items, including the reading of the organisation’s manifesto, the screening of a documentary on Garda Pemuda NasDem’s 15-year journey, and the presentation of the GP NasDem Award as a form of appreciation to figures who have contributed to strengthening the youth movement.
The congress is scheduled to run until Wednesday, 22 July 2026. The upcoming agenda includes a plenary session, commission deliberations, and the election of a new leadership to steer the organisation in the coming period.
The opening of the Second Congress was attended by a number of senior political figures and regional officials. Among those present were the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province Uus Kuswanto, Member of the NasDem Party’s Supreme Council Lestari Moerdijat, and Chairman of the NasDem Party’s Supreme Council Jan Darmadi.
Also in attendance were Secretary-General of the NasDem Party Hermawi Taslim, Deputy Chairman of the Party’s Advisory Council Sutiyoso, several NasDem Party members of the House of Representatives (DPR RI), and representatives of the party’s bodies and wing organisations. The event was also joined by thousands of Garda Pemuda NasDem cadres from across Indonesia.
