The NasDem Youth Guard is considered a wellspring for the birth of progressive national leadership. This spirit forms the main foundation for the Second Congress of the NasDem Youth Guard, which coincides with the organisation’s 15th anniversary. Carrying the theme ‘Independent Youth, Sovereign Nation’, the event took place at the Mercure Hotel Ancol, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 21 July 2026. The congress serves as a crucial momentum for organisational consolidation as well as a forum to strengthen commitment in building a generation of youth with character, competitiveness, and the capacity to become the foundation for an advanced Indonesia. In his address, Chairman Prananda Surya Paloh stated that the organisation’s journey over the past eight years has been marked by various challenges and dynamics. However, he emphasised that this has not dampened the spirit of the NasDem Youth Guard to remain a space for cadre formation and an engine of change. ‘I would be disappointed if the NasDem Youth Guard were merely seen as parking attendants. But I am proud because the NasDem Youth Guard is still reckoned with as one of the youth organisations in this country. Therefore, we must continue to rally young energy, be part of the great NasDem Party cadres, and become pioneers of Indonesia’s restoration,’ Prananda asserted. He added that the eight-year journey has laid a strong foundation, and the Second Congress is expected to be a starting point to sharpen the direction of the struggle in facing more complex future challenges. ‘The past eight years were the foundation. The days ahead are our shared momentum to build the greatness of the Youth Guard and the NasDem Party. This congress must be a momentum for consolidating ideas, refreshing formations, and igniting a new spirit,’ he added. The first day of the congress featured the reading of the organisation’s manifesto, a documentary screening of the 15-year journey, and the GP NasDem Award presentation to figures contributing to the youth movement. The congress is scheduled to run until Wednesday, 22 July 2026, with plenary sessions, commission discussions, and the election of a new leadership board. The opening was attended by senior political figures including DKI Jakarta Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto, NasDem Party High Council members Lestari Moerdijat and Jan Darmadi, Secretary-General Hermawi Taslim, and Deputy Chair of the Advisory Council Sutiyoso, along with thousands of cadres from across Indonesia.
