NasDem Speaks Out on Ahmad Sahroni's Reappointment as Commission III Deputy Chair
NasDem Deputy General Chairman Saan Mustopa has confirmed that Ahmad Sahroni has completed the six-month suspension handed down by the House of Representatives Ethics Council (MKD) some time ago.
Sahroni was reinstated as Deputy Chair of Commission III of the House of Representatives on Thursday (19 February).
"The MKD has already issued its decision. So if he has been appointed by the House leadership to Commission III, it means the matter regarding the MKD's ruling has been concluded. It's been served," said Saan at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta.
Saan said his party was following the MKD's decision regarding Sahroni's reappointment as Deputy Chair of Commission III.
"Once again, we are simply following the MKD's ruling. So if the House leadership has made the appointment, it means the MKD has no objections," he said.
Ahmad Sahroni was reinstated as Deputy Chair of Commission III from the NasDem faction during a plenary meeting to inaugurate the commission's leadership on Thursday.
Sahroni replaces Rusdi Masse, who resigned from NasDem.
Sahroni had originally served as Deputy Chair of Commission III for the 2024-2029 term. In August last year, he was removed from his position following a series of viral statements related to protesters at the House of Representatives.
At the time, Sahroni said calls to dissolve the House were misguided. He went so far as to describe such views as reflecting "the mentality of fools."
Sahroni's removal was formalised through NasDem Faction Letter No. 758 regarding changes to the membership of Commissions I and III. The letter was signed by NasDem Faction Chairman Viktor Laiskodat and by Sahroni himself as Faction Treasurer, dated 29 August 2025.
Under the letter, Sahroni was transferred to Commission I, whilst his vacated Deputy Chair position at Commission III was filled by Rusdi Masse Mappasessu.
In November 2025, the House Ethics Council imposed a six-month suspension on Sahroni.
In January this year, Rusdi Masse resigned from NasDem and joined PSI. Following his departure, the NasDem faction once again nominated Sahroni as Deputy Chair of Commission III.
