NasDem Party Ramadan Safari to Kyai and Pesantren
Deputy Chairman of the NasDem Central Leadership Council, Saan Mustopa, a member of the House of Representatives for Electoral District XI and a participant in the Regional Leadership Council, led a Ramadan safari carrying a message from NasDem General Chairman Surya Paloh to kyai and pesantren. The visit was intended to foster silaturahmi and to show appreciation for the important role kyai in development. ‘On the 14th day, we are conducting a Ramadan safari starting from Majenang, Cilacap; there will be a consolidation in Garut Regency, and we will help, assist, share, and break fast together. The visit to the Pondok Pesantren (Ponpes) aims to silaturahmi with the founder of the Ponpes KH Yusuf Faqih (Mama Yusuf) who is 103 years old,’ said Saan at Ponpes Mathlaul Khaer Cintapada, on Friday (6/3).
Saan said that, in principle, the Ramadan safari is part of NasDem’s effort to build silaturahmi and communication with the community, the party, internal groups, and at the same time to have the opportunity to help, assist and share. However, the spirit of the Ramadan safari is to foster silaturahmi and communication with the components of society.
‘Silaturahmi and Ramadan safari to pesantren convey the message from NasDem General Chairman Surya Paloh that he highly regards and respects kyai and pesantren. Because pesantren and kyai have a great role, their existence is certainly crucial in shaping and founding the nation,’ he said.
According to him, this Ramadan safari must be filled with silaturahmi to kyai and pesantren, because Surya Paloh sees the pesantren’s contribution and struggle as very significant for the nation. Because kyai and pesantren played a good role during the pre-independence struggle alongside other powers in freeing the nation, and later when independence came they contributed through their educational work.
‘Pesantren are basically autonomous, and Surya Paloh has asked that we all—including administrators—show appreciation and respect to kyai and pesantren. During this Ramadan safari we will visit many pesantren and hold discussions with kyai, including the founder of Ponpes KH Yusuf Faqih (Mama Yusuf), who is 103 years old,’ he said. (E-2)
