House of Representatives Commission XIII held a working meeting with the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) today. Commission member Muhammad Shadiq Pasadigoe highlighted that BPIP’s socialisation efforts have not been maximised. “Indeed, none of us in Commission XIII, it feels, do not support BPIP’s programmes. And at the time, we fully supported BPIP’s budget without limit. But I see that the drive shown by BPIP is still far from expectations, Sir,” Shadiq said during the meeting at the Parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Monday. Shadiq argued that the socialisation of Pancasila should be conducted on a massive scale across Indonesia. He suggested that television news anchors should use the greeting “Salam Pancasila” before conveying information to the public. “For example, we are socialising Pancasila. If BPIP had the drive, how can Pancasila truly be socialised en masse in our country. For instance, every time a TV announcer is about to read the news or open a programme, the ‘Salam Pancasila’ greeting should not be forgotten,” Shadiq said. “That is already a form of socialisation of Pancasila, so that Pancasila truly becomes grounded for the younger generation,” he added. He touched upon his own background as a former civil servant and two-term regent. Shadiq stated he had never been entangled in corruption cases because he practised Pancasila in his actions. “And I was a civil servant who sat at echelons IV, III, II, I, a regent twice, and one of the factors I have not been caught up in legal cases, let alone being investigated, I have never even been summoned, is because I hold Pancasila as my personal character. There is no corrupt intent, Sir, you may ask,” he remarked. The NasDem Party legislator urged BPIP to fight for its budget from the Ministry of Finance. He stressed that the ideology of Pancasila is vital and must be applied by all Indonesian citizens. “So I ask you, Sir, if possible, to have the drive; BPIP must not be weak, it must, it must break through. This is just about the budget. I understand, Sir, how the Ministry of Finance sets a budget. So I hope that, Sir, you have that drive and fight for how this budget can be obtained,” he concluded.
