The NasDem Party DPD in Karangasem has set an ambitious target for the 2029 Legislative Election (Pileg). Surya Paloh’s party is aiming to secure 9-12 seats in the Karangasem Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), which would represent more than a twofold increase from the five seats achieved in the 202lar election.

To pursue this target, the NasDem Karangasem DPD has begun warming up the party’s machinery, even though the 2029 election is still several years away. The mapping of potential votes and the best cadres in every sub-district is being finalised as preparation for the upcoming political contest.

“Our target is certainly to increase our seats. Based on the results of meetings with all officials, our target in Karangasem is 9-12 seats,” said the Chairperson of the NasDem Karangasem DPD, I Gusti Ayu Mas Sumatri, when met following the NasDem Party Consolidation on Saturday (1/8/2026).

Mas Sumatri stated that this target can only be achieved if all officials and cadres, from the top level to the grassroots, continue to engage actively within the community. Through this, every electoral district (dapil) is expected to be able to boost vote and seat counts.

“We have mapped this out, and we hope this target can be achieved through the hard work and solidarity of all cadres below,” said Mas Sumatri.

She added that cadre development will be conducted routinely and sustainably to ensure the organisation becomes increasingly cohesive and solid. Furthermore, the party will develop several programmes that directly engage with the public, ensuring that the prepared cadres fight in close connection with the citizens.

“For the Provincial DPRD, we hope the seats will also increase to 2. Astungkara,” Mas Sumatri expressed.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the NasDem Bali DPW, I Nengah Senantara, stated that consolidation is a vital agenda in preparation for the upcoming election. According to him, the party structure must become stronger, cadres must remain solid, and they must descend to the community more frequently to absorb aspirations.

Senantara also assessed that the NasDem Karangasem DPD is one of the regions most prepared for the 2029 Legislative Election.

“From my observations so far, Karangasem is the most cohesive, solid, and prepared to welcome the upcoming Pileg. We hope that what is hoped for will be realised in the future,” said Senantara.
