NasDem Iftar: Surya Paloh Urges Party Members to Resist Temptation

The NasDem Party held a communal iftar gathering with orphans today. NasDem chairman Surya Paloh said the Ramadan period serves as a reminder for all parties to resist temptation.

The iftar took place at NasDem Tower in Central Jakarta on Thursday (19 February 2026). Surya Paloh expressed his gratitude to the various prominent figures who attended the event.

“Breaking our fast together today, we can surely all agree, carries its own special meaning, so that the bonds of fellowship we have maintained all this time can continue to be preserved,” Surya Paloh said in his address.

He said Ramadan is a moment to strengthen one’s resilience against temptation. He spoke of Ramadan as a holy month that should serve as a guiding principle.

“During this holy month of Ramadan, we shall all certainly draw meaning and benefit from the significance of this sacred month, to strengthen our capacity to resist various temptations,” Surya Paloh said.

“Not only concerning matters of enduring hunger and thirst, but various things that could perhaps help purify the spirit and drive within us to truly appreciate the meaning of this holy month of Ramadan,” he added.

Paloh also prayed that the observance of Ramadan would strengthen the Muslim community in Indonesia. He expressed his respect for the attendance of all parties.

“We are able to maintain our spirit and determination, so that the meaning of this holy month can continue to provide something meaningful for our shared struggle to build the nation and country we love,” he said.

Earlier, as observed at NasDem Tower in Central Jakarta, at 5.50pm Surya Paloh was seen seated alongside PKS president Almuzzammil Yusuf, NasDem deputy chairman Saan Mustopa, PAN chairman Zulhas, and former vice-president Jusuf Kalla.

Also present were PKB deputy chairman Jazilul Fawaid and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sari Yuliati, a Golkar politician. At 5.57pm, House Speaker and PDIP central board chairwoman Puan Maharani arrived at the venue.

Puan then took a seat beside Surya Paloh and Jusuf Kalla. They were seen engaging in cordial conversation.
