JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Member of Commission I of the House of Representatives from the NasDem Faction, Amelia Anggraini, stated that Indonesia must continue its peacekeeping missions despite the deaths of three TNI soldiers in Lebanon, but security standards must be elevated.

“We emphasise that Indonesia’s contribution to global peacekeeping missions must continue, but with security standards, equipment readiness, and more adaptive intelligence support to contemporary threat dynamics,” Amelia told Kompas.com on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Furthermore, the state must ensure the fulfilment of all rights for the families left behind, in the form of compensation, social security, and ongoing support.

“This sacrifice is concrete proof of Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining world peace as mandated by the constitution,” she stressed.

This protection system must be implemented strictly and comprehensively for the safety of TNI personnel carrying out UN missions in conflict areas.

“This incident must become a foundational momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s defence diplomacy in international forums, particularly in ensuring the safety of peacekeeping personnel in conflict zones such as Lebanon,” Amelia added.

As many as eight Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel have become casualties in southern Lebanon, based on the latest data from the Indonesian Ministry of Defence on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Head of the Defence Information Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, explained that the security situation in the assignment area has escalated in recent days.

“On 29 March 2026, one TNI soldier was killed and several others were injured due to the impact of the conflict in the operational area,” Rico said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

In that incident, besides one soldier killed, another suffered severe injuries, and two others sustained minor injuries.

The next incident occurred a day later, where two TNI soldiers were killed amid the escalation of conflict in the area between Lebanon and Israel.

“In that incident (on 30 March 2026), two TNI soldiers were reported killed, while two others suffered severe injuries,” he added.

Thus, over two days, eight TNI soldiers became casualties of the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
