NasDem Appreciates Operation Ketupat 2026: Fatalities Drop by More Than 30 Percent
NasDem Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Rudianto Lallo, has expressed appreciation for the security measures implemented for the Eid al-Fitr 2026 homecoming and return traffic, carried out by Polri in synergy with all relevant stakeholders. He highlighted the fatality rate or death toll from road accidents dropping by more than 30 percent.
“As a working partner, we appreciate the performance of Polri, particularly the National Traffic Corps, in Operation Ketupat 2026. The over 30 percent reduction in fatalities demonstrates that the data-based approach is running effectively,” said Rudianto Lallo to reporters on Monday (30/3/2026).
Rudianto stated that road safety education needs to be continuously intensified by Polri to the public. Traffic engineering utilising technology also needs to be further improved so that future Operation Ketupat can be even more optimal.
“However, this must serve as a baseline. Safety education needs to be strengthened because accidents are still dominated by fatigue factors. Traffic engineering needs to be enhanced with more precise technology and an integrated system, as well as cross-sectoral synergy based on single data,” he said.
He gave appreciation to the Head of the National Traffic Corps of Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, along with his team. Rudianto hopes that Polri’s public services will become increasingly humane and provide a sense of security.
“Public services must also become faster, more humane, and accurate. The direct presence of police on the roads is important as a manifestation of state services that provide a sense of security and quick response,” said Rudianto Lallo.
“Going forward, Polri is expected to strengthen preventive approaches, real-time data analysis, safety campaigns, and transparent evaluations. The goal is for the homecoming not only to be smooth, but also safe and without casualties,” he added.
Previously, Inspector General Agus stated that the 2026 Eid homecoming and return traffic was under control. Data from the National Traffic Corps of Polri shows no prominent incidents during this year’s Eid homecoming period.
“Colleagues, the homecoming traffic and return traffic, along with the series of Eid al-Fitr activities, were quite controlled, from the aspect of security and public order, there were no prominent incidents,” said Inspector General Agus at the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday (30/3/2026).
Inspector General Agus explained that during Eid 2026, Polri carried out Operation Ketupat, followed by Enhanced Routine Activities. He said the homecoming traffic could be managed well despite a temporary increase in vehicle volume.
“The homecoming traffic has proceeded well even though there was a quite high increase in flow, but the homecoming traffic could be managed well by us,” he stated.
Inspector General Agus also said that the accident rate during the 2026 Eid homecoming period fell by up to 5.31 percent. The fatality rate of deaths also dropped by 30.41 percent during this year’s Eid homecoming season.
