NASA Targets Human Moon Landing in 2028
Washington (ANTARA) – The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced plans to land astronauts on the Moon in 2028 as part of the Artemis IV space mission.
NASA chief Jared Isaacman said preparations and technical planning were continuing to ensure the launch could proceed as scheduled.
“That is how we ensure the Artemis IV mission has the best chance of safely and successfully landing Americans on the lunar surface again in 2028. When American astronauts take their first steps on the Moon in 2028, rovers and the first elements of humanity’s permanent presence on the Moon will be waiting for them,” Isaacman said.
Meanwhile, NASA Artemis programme manager Jeremy Parsons said two private contractors were developing lunar landing modules in parallel: Elon Musk-led SpaceX and Jeff Bezos-owned Blue Origin.
“Within the Artemis team, our focus is on advancing preparations so we are ready to land on the Moon on the 2028 timeline. NASA will wait until it is as ready as possible before deciding who will land our astronauts, but both contractors are currently preparing to make a 2028 landing possible,” Parsons said.
