Narcotics syndicates
Narcotics syndicates
and heavy punishment
An international narcotics transaction involving Columbia's
Meddelin Cartel was discovered on Batam island recently.
This just goes to show that Indonesia is now one of the
strategic sites worldwide to do the drug business.
It also means that Batam needs more sophisticated detection
equipment and officers of the highest moral standards to keep the
drug traffickers at bay.
Besides increasing their skills, our police officers must
cooperate with their counterparts from other countries because
the increasingly sophisticated distribution of illegal drugs has
covered world.
Because of the severe impact of the drugs they sell on human
beings, drug traffickers deserve the heaviest punishment
possible, such as the death penalty, which is applied in Malaysia
and Singapore. It is very urgent for Indonesia to enforce such a
penalty against anyone involved in the illegal drug trade.
