The Directorate of Narcotics Crime (Dittipidnarkoba) within Bareskrim, the Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency, is hunting Eddy alias Awie, owner of New Zone nightclub in Medan, North Sumatra, over suspected drug trafficking. Director of Narcotics Crime (Dirtipidnarkoba) at Bareskrim, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso stated that Eddy has been listed as a wanted person (DPO). ‘Eddy, alias Awie, as the owner of New Zone nightclub in Medan, is also the drug dealer supplying narcotics to patrons of the venue,’ he said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday. The DPO letter states that Eddy is a businessman residing at Cemara Asri Complex in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. His physical description includes a height of 170 centimetres, weight of 85 kilograms, age around 50, straight thin hair, dark almond-shaped eyes, large nose, slightly overweight, and fair skin. Previously, Dittipidnarkoba Bareskrim Polri had arrested four suspects in the suspected drug trafficking case at New Zone nightclub in Medan. Eko detailed that the suspects include DAL, the narcotics supplier at New Zone; JL, alias Asiang, the HRD administrator who monitored police raids and allowed drug trafficking; AW, alias Aan, the operations manager who permitted drug sales and profited from them; and SH, the intermediary. ‘After further investigation, the team found that Eddy alias Awi orchestrated and controlled the drug distribution and sales at New Zone,’ Eko said.
