Nanik S Deyang Resigns as Head of National Nutrition Agency Due to Health Reasons

Jakarta - Nanik S Deyang has submitted her resignation as head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) due to health reasons, as confirmed by Presidential Special Assistant for Communication and Policy Dirgayuza Setiawan. “Today, Mrs Nanik Deyang bid farewell to President Prabowo to undergo heart treatment and simultaneously resign as Head of the National Nutrition Agency,” Yuza stated on Wednesday.

He noted that during her approximately one and a half months leading BGN, Nanik uncovered various issues and laid several reform foundations. Among her actions were evaluating nearly 28,000 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), classifying 3,000 kitchens based on quality standards, halting kitchen expansion in saturated areas, and identifying 414 problematic SPPGs, resulting in hundreds of billions of rupiah being returned to state coffers. She also established 11 reform teams, refocused the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme on the most needy beneficiaries, and brought in professionals from across ministries and agencies.

In a separate statement on her social media, Nanik S Deyang confirmed her resignation as BGN head to seek medical treatment abroad for a heart condition, departing immediately. “I conveyed to the President with a thousand apologies that I must resign as Head of BGN for the sake of my health, and because the President was concerned and felt sorry for me, he approved, but asked that I continue to oversee BGN,” Nanik stated in her post. She mentioned the potential for President Prabowo Subianto to establish a supervisory board for BGN and the MBG programme, with herself as its chair. Nanik also affirmed her commitment to continue fighting and supporting President Prabowo’s efforts to improve the lives of the Indonesian people.
