Nanik Resigns from BGN, What Are the Successor's Tasks?

After announcing the ranks of middle-ranking officials within the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Head of BGN has now announced her resignation. On Wednesday morning (22/7), Nanik S. Deyang announced her resignation, citing heart health issues she is currently experiencing. “I conveyed to the president with a thousand apologies that it seems I must resign as Head of BGN, for the sake of my health,” said Nanik S. Deyang in a post on her Facebook page. Despite this, she stated she will not be detached from the BGN circle. This is because President Prabowo plans to form a Supervisory Board for the Free Nutritious Meals programme (MBG), and Nanik has been appointed to lead it. “I conveyed to the president with a thousand apologies that it seems I must resign as Head of BGN, for the sake of my health, and because the president is concerned and feels sorry for me, the president agreed, but I was asked to continue overseeing BGN. The president will likely form a supervisory board where I am told to become the chair of the supervisory board,” Nanik said. Apart from this, the legislature has requested that BGN make improvements in the future under new leadership. This was expressed by Deputy Chairman of House Commission IX, Charles Honoris. He also gave notes to Nanik’s successor in carrying out their duties. “However, the change of leadership must not be seen merely as a change of figure. What is far more important is the momentum to carry out comprehensive improvements to the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals programme,” Charles said. “Therefore, whoever leads BGN in the future must be brave enough to evaluate and redesign the programme so that it is better targeted, safer, more accountable, and in line with the state’s fiscal capacity,” he added.
