Nanik Deyang's Response After Being Appointed by Prabowo to Lead National Nutrition Agency

President Prabowo Subiability has removed Dadan Hindayana from his position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). To replace Dadan, Prabowo has appointed the Deputy Head of the BGN, Nanik Deyang, to lead the agency responsible for managing his flagship political promise, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

Responding to the appointment, Nanik stated that she recognises the immense mandate and responsibility placed upon her. “Thank you very much for the congratulations and prayers. This is an extremely large and heavy mandate and responsibility for me,” Nanik told reporters on Wednesday.

Nanik pledged to ensure that Indonesian children receive optimal nutrition through the MBG programme. She also expressed her intention to revitalise the local economy through the initiative. “To ensure that Indonesian children receive the best nutrition, as well as to revitalise the people’s economy,” said the woman, who was also known as a supporter of Prabowo during the presidential election.

Furthermore, she requested public support and expressed hope that she could carry out her duties effectively. “Please support me and pray that I can perform my duties well and smoothly. May your good prayers be rewarded by Allah SWT.”

Previously, President Prabowo decided to dismiss Dadan Hindayana as Head of the National Nutrition Agency. Alongside Dadan, the Deputy Heads of the BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sanjaya, were also removed. The announcement regarding the dismissal of these three officials was delivered directly at the Presidential Palace by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Lt. Col. TNI Teddy Indra Wijaya and Kabakom M. Qodari, on Tuesday night.

Prasetyo emphasised that the decision was made by Prabowo after reviewing and evaluating the performance of the BGN leadership. The new leadership of the BGN consists of Nanik S. Deyang as Head, with Agustina Arum Sari and Major General TNI Trenggono serving as Deputies.

Following his removal from office, Dadan has become a subject of public discussion following a search of the BGN office conducted by the Special Crimes Team of the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday.
