Nanik Deyang Resigns as Head of National Nutrition Agency, Citing Heart Treatment
Nanik S Deyang has resigned as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Her resignation coincides with her need to undergo heart treatment. “Today, 22 July 2026, Mrs Nanik Deyang bid farewell to President Prabowo to undergo heart treatment. She also resigned as Head of the National Nutrition Agency,” said Presidential Special Assistant for Communication and Policy, Dirgayuza Setiawan, on his Instagram account on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Dirgayuza has known Nanik since the run-up to the 2014 election. In Dirgayuza’s eyes, she has always cared about the lives of ordinary people. “For more than a decade, I have seen one thing that has never changed about her: she cannot stay silent when she sees the people facing injustice and hardship,” he said. In addition, Dirgayuza recounted how Nanik brought the case of Indonesian migrant worker Wilfrida Soik to the attention of President Prabowo Subianto, leading to Wilfrida being defended from the threat of the death penalty in Malaysia. “Mrs Nanik also proposed the electric trishaw programme for elderly trishaw drivers,” he added.
