Names of tax dodgers to be revealed TV
JAKARTA (JP): West Jakarta Mayor Sutarjianto said yesterday
that his office will announce the names of those who failed to
pay property tax last year.
Sutarjianto said this announcement will be made on television
and in newspapers next month because about 1,500 residents of
West Jakarta have not paid the taxes. The mayoralty set last
December as the deadline for payments.
He explained that West Jakarta received only about Rp 38.1
billion (US$17.31 million) as of last month, below the target of
Rp 41.4 billion.
"Hopefully, with this action the tax payers, who have not yet
fulfilled their obligation, will pay the tax. If they refuse to
do so, we will confiscate their properties," he said.
Head of the East Jakarta Revenues Office Sunaryonaya said as
of last month his office collected Rp 33 billion, 89.08 percent
of the target of Rp 37.1 billion.
Sunaryonaya said seven corporate taxpayers are in arrears. Two
of them are city water company PAM Jaya with arrears of Rp 1.79
million and the Indonesia in Miniature Park with Rp 1.83 million.
"They promised to pay the taxes after the Idul Fitri holidays,"
he added.
Executive of the Central Jakarta Revenues Office Hasyim said
his office had collected about Rp 40.2 billion as of last month,
96.2 percent of the target of Rp 41.8 billion. The target is
expected to be met by the end of this month.
In South and North Jakarta, property tax collection has
exceeded the targets set by the two mayoralties. The South
Jakarta mayoralty has collected Rp 56.2 billion, 111.7 percent
higher than the target of Rp 50.3 billion.
The North Jakarta mayoralty has collected Rp 38.1 billion,
101.4 percent higher than the target of 37.6 billion. (yns)
