The proceedings began at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (6/5/2026), where KPK prosecutors indicted three individuals:

  1. John Field, as the leader of Blueray Cargo (Group)

  2. Dedy Kurniawan Sukolo, as the Operational Manager for Custom Clearance at the Port for Blueray Cargo (Group)

  3. Andri, as the Head of the Import Documents Team at Blueray Cargo (Group).

The trio are accused of giving bribes to:

  1. Rizal, as the Director of Enforcement and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise from September 2024 to January 2026

  2. Sisprian Subiaksono, as the Deputy Head of Intelligence at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise

  3. Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar, as the Head of Section I Customs Intelligence at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise

The bribes were given to ensure that Blueray Cargo (Group)’s imported goods could exit the customs supervision process more quickly. The indictment states that the bribes amounted to Rp 61,301,939,000 in SGD or Singapore dollars, along with entertainment facilities and luxury goods valued at Rp 1,845,000,000.

During the trial, the prosecutor stated that initially in May 2025, John Field met and got acquainted with Rizal at a restaurant in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Subsequently, in June 2025, Rizal introduced John Field to Sisprian and Orlando at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in Rawamangun, East Jakarta. This was followed by a meeting with Djaka Budi Utama.

“Furthermore, in July 2025, at Hotel Borobudur, Jalan Lapangan Banteng Selatan number 1, Pasar Baru, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta. A meeting took place between officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, including Djaka Budi Utama, Rizal, Sisprian Subiaksono, and Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar, with cargo entrepreneurs, including the presence of the First Defendant (John Field) from Blueray Cargo (Group),” said the prosecutor while reading the indictment.

After that, the name of Djaka Budi Utama is not mentioned again in the indictment. However, following the meeting at Hotel Borobudur, the prosecutor stated that there was a meeting in August 2025 between Orlando and John Field, with Fillar Marindra, an executor at the Subdirectorate of Intelligence of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, also present.

“In that meeting, the First Defendant conveyed to Orlando regarding the condition of Blueray Cargo (Group)’s imported goods shipments that were entering the red lane and subject to dwelling time,” said the prosecutor.

Following that meeting, collusion occurred in which Blueray Cargo’s side gave bribes to Customs and Excise officials so that their imported goods could pass through the process easily. The prosecutor stated that the bribe-giving took place gradually from July 2025 to January 2026.

Response from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise

In response to the indictment mentioning those meetings, particularly those touching on the name of Director General of Customs and Excise Djaka Budi Utama, the Directorate General of Customs and Excise has spoken out. Budi Prasetiyo, Deputy Head of Public Relations and Education at Customs and Excise, conveyed that the Directorate General of Customs and Excise respects the ongoing legal process.

“We respect the legal process currently underway in the court, while upholding the principle of presumption of innocence. Since this case has entered the trial stage, to respect and maintain the independence of that process, we will not comment on the substance of the case,” Budi explained when asked for confirmation on Thursday (7/5/2026).
