Naked Man Admits Assaulting Motorcyclists in Lenteng Agung While Drunk
A man with the initials J has been detained by police after a viral video showed him naked on the street assaulting motorcyclists in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. J admitted that he carried out the attack because he was drunk.
In video footage obtained by journalists, J is seen being questioned by Jagakarsa Police Chief Commissioner Nurma Dewi. Nurma initially asked why the perpetrator had attacked motorcyclists on the road.
“Drunk? What did you drink?” Commissioner Nurma asked in the video recording received by reporters on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
The man then replied that he was drunk after consuming one bottle of alcoholic drink.
“Intisari, one bottle,” said J.
Nurma then asked where J came from. J replied that he was from eastern Indonesia and had been in Jakarta for three years.
Commissioner Nurma also asked why J had taken off his clothes on the street.
“Oh, drunk, so you don’t remember,” said Nurma.
The police chief then asked why J had hit people. J again answered that he was drunk and therefore could not remember what he had done.
“Drunk, can’t remember. Oh yes… yes… yes,” Nurma said again.
Nurma then advised J not to get drunk again.
“Don’t do it again. It’s not allowed. Enough. Why drink at all? You get a headache, get drunk, and can’t remember anything,” Nurma continued.
The incident was recorded on amateur video and went viral on social media. In the circulating footage, the naked man can be seen assaulting several motorcyclists passing along the road.
In the amateur video shared on social media, the man is seen hitting a motorcycle taxi driver with a piece of plywood. The driver fell to the ground.
“Kill… kill,” the man shouted.
Even though the driver was already helpless, the perpetrator struck the victim again with the plywood. The victim was reportedly knocked unconscious as a result of the attack.
Besides the motorcycle taxi driver, other motorcyclists were also targeted. The perpetrator blocked the victims and hit them with the plywood until they fell onto the asphalt.
Several residents attempted to restrain the perpetrator, but he ran around in the middle of the road.
The incident was narrated online with speculation that the perpetrator might have a mental health disorder. The event took place on Tuesday evening (18/8) near Lenteng Agung Station.
