Nagreg Route Sees Surge in Homebound Traffic Four Days Before Eid, Vehicle Numbers Rise Significantly
The volume of homebound traffic along the Nagreg route on the fourth day before Eid 2026, Tuesday, 17 March 2026, experienced a considerable increase compared to the previous day. The Transportation Agency (Dishub) of Bandung Regency recorded that vehicle volumes along the Nagreg route until Tuesday evening at 18:00 WIB reached 65,435 vehicles.
Ruddy Heryadi, Coordinator of Public Relations for the Eid Security Post at Bandung Regency’s Transportation Agency, stated that the volume of vehicles using the Nagreg route heading to Garut increased compared to the previous day, Monday.
“Yesterday’s 24-hour count was 63,000 vehicles. Today, in less than 24 hours, we already have 65,435 vehicles passing through,” Ruddy said when contacted in Bandung Regency.
The Bandung Transportation Agency predicts that the peak of homebound traffic along the Nagreg route heading towards Tasikmalaya, Garut and Central Java will occur on the day before Eid or Friday, 20 March 2026.
He explained that this prediction was based on analysis of vehicle movements and the existence of an extended joint holiday policy for this year’s Eid celebration.
“The holiday is quite extended, so the public has flexibility in choosing when to return home. However, we estimate the peak return traffic will occur on the day before Eid,” said Ruddy.
According to him, although the peak traffic is predicted to occur on Friday, traffic congestion on the route is estimated to be less severe than in previous years.
This is due to effective traffic management measures and supporting policies such as free travel services and extended joint holidays.
“This is an extraordinary breakthrough from the government. The public is free to choose when to return, so the potential for severe congestion can be minimised,” he said.
