Roswita Bupu, a domestic worker (ART) from Nagekeo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), managed to convey a final message to her mother before she died in an explosion at a luxury house in the Grand Polonia area of Medan. Ros delivered the message via a video call in the family’s WhatsApp group.

“She just told her, ‘Mama, I’m off to work now, Mama should get some rest’,” said Ros’s elder sister, Arin Arianti, over the phone on Thursday (23/7/2026).

Arin said the last video call between Ros and her mother took place on Saturday night (19/7/2026). The following day, Ros suddenly left the family’s WhatsApp group.

“She passed away on Monday. We were informed on Tuesday,” Arin said.

The house exploded on Monday (21/7/2026).

Ros was known to come from Tongananga Village, Ratongamobo Urban Village, Boawae Subdistrict, Nagekeo Regency. Her family said Ros had not even completed a year working as a domestic helper in Medan.

“She worked as a domestic helper for about 11 months,” Arin said.

Arin explained that Ros initially worked in Bali after being invited by a friend. Several months later, Ros was transferred to Jakarta. Not long after working in Jakarta, she was moved again to Medan to work as a domestic helper.

The explosion at the luxury house killed three people. Besides Ros, the two other victims were the homeowner’s wife and a babysitter. Meanwhile, four others were reported to have survived the incident.
