Nagan Raya Regent hopes all residents can occupy huntara before Eid al-Fitr
Nagan Raya Regency Government in Aceh Province said the construction of 570 huntara in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District has reached more than 70 per cent to date. “We hope the community can occupy the huntara before Hari Raya Idul Fitri this year,” said Nagan Raya Regent Teuku Raja Keumangan, accompanied by Vice Regent Raja Sayang, to reporters in Nagan Raya on Thursday. He said the construction of huntara for disaster-affected communities is an urgent basic need, as huntara serve as shelters for residents who have lost their homes due to the disaster that struck Aceh in late November 2025. Currently around 1,500 residents in the area are still displaced in evacuation tents, as most of their houses were damaged or destroyed by the disaster. The Regent Teuku Raja Keumangan said the construction of hundreds of huntara in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, Nagan Raya Regency, is because the district is among the hardest-hit areas. Details of the damages from the disaster include residential damage of more than Rp131 billion, infrastructure sector damage of more than Rp572.7 billion, and economic impact damage of more than Rp278.8 billion. Then in the social sector of more than Rp75.9 billion, and cross-sector damage of more than Rp39.6 billion.
