Nagan Raya Regency Strengthens Foster Parents Movement to Prevent Stunting
Nagan Raya (ANTARA) - The Nagan Raya Regency Government continues to strive to strengthen the Foster Parents Movement to Prevent Stunting in order to reduce stunting rates in the local area.
“Through this movement, the local government hopes to prevent and reduce stunting rates to realise a golden generation in the future,” said the Head of the Community Empowerment Agency, Women’s Empowerment, and Child Protection of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, Said Mudhar, in Nagan Raya on Tuesday.
He stated that the foster parents’ working mechanism will be accompanied by the Family Support Team (TPK), Dashat cadres (Healthy Kitchen to Overcome Stunting), and nutritionists from community health centres.
According to him, this movement is not an ordinary programme, but a manifestation of cross-sectoral mutual cooperation spirit between the government, private sector, individuals, and academics to realise a healthy, intelligent, and stunting-free Indonesian generation.
The Chair of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement (PKK) of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, Cut Inda, said that her side is committed to continuing to assist the local government in preventing and reducing stunting rates in the area.
She conveyed several important points in the implementation of stunting prevention, including focusing interventions on the First 1,000 Days of Life (HPK).
“Interventions must be concentrated from pregnancy until the child is under two years old so that the results are optimal,” she explained.
Second, determining the right targets by prioritising stunting-risk families (KRS), such as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and children under two years old (toddlers), to receive continuous support.
Third, nutritional and environmental interventions, prioritising the provision of nutritious food.
“Especially animal protein, as well as ensuring a healthy environment, availability of clean water, adequate sanitation, and parenting education for parents,” she explained.
The PKK of Nagan Raya Regency, Aceh, urges all cadres, especially the Family Support Team (TPK), to actively conduct verification and validation of data in the field so that assistance is on target.
“Cadres must also ensure that nutritional assistance is received directly by the targets and conduct routine monitoring of children’s weight and height development through the provided support application,” she said.
