NAFED to hold third Jakarta International Houseware Fair

The Ministry of Trade's National Agency for Export Development (NAFED) will hold the third Jakarta International Houseware Fair (JIHF) 2005 in early June to promote the country's local products to the world.

"The main purpose is to boost exports and promote to foreign and local buyers that Indonesia is able to supply quality houseware to the global market," NAFED acting head Diah Maulida said on Tuesday.

Bathroom accessories, health and personal care items, tableware and kitchenware, lighting, household textiles, electrical appliances, cleaning equipment and supplies, hardware and artificial flowers are just some of the many of items set to go on display WHERE?.

One hundred and-fifty exhibitors will take part in the event from June 1-5 and foreign buyers are expected from the U.S., Brazil, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Pakistan, India, Iran, Morocco, Quwait, Turkey, Cambodia, China, Suriname and Qatar.

According to the Ministry, Indonesia exported US$1.4 billion worth of houseware goods from January to November last year, up 16.75 percent from $1.1 billion in the corresponding period in 2003.

Indonesia's main export markets for houseware are the U.S., Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and the UK. -- JP
