JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The camp of former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim has once again submitted a request for a change of detention status to the panel of judges hearing the alleged corruption case involving the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops.

“We from the legal advisory team have submitted it again, of course, for the change of detention status,” said one of Nadiem’s lawyers, Zaid Mushafi, when providing a statement during a break in the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (30/3/2026).

Zaid stated that this request is based on a medical certificate from the hospital and the doctor treating Nadiem.

The submission for the change was not made during the trial. However, on 23 February 2026, Nadiem’s camp had already presented this request in the trial.

“Today I am ready to face the trial. However, about six days ago, I underwent my fourth surgical procedure and there was significant regression, meaning I have to start over from the beginning,” Nadiem said during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Monday (30/3/2026).

“So, there is still one more surgical procedure that needs to be done,” he continued.

During today’s trial, Nadiem informed the panel that he needs a fifth operation. His fourth operation was performed around 17 March 2026.

However, the judge checked Nadiem’s health condition.

“Can you attend the trial today?” asked Judge Purwanto.

“Ready, Your Honour,” Nadiem replied.

The judge asked Nadiem to inform if his health condition encounters any obstacles during the trial.

He had previously undergone surgery, which led to the postponement of the reading of the indictment to early January 2026.
