Nadiem Reports Four Central Jakarta Corruption Court Judges to Judicial Commission
Former Education and Culture Minister Nadiem Makarim has reported four judges from the Central Jakarta Corruption Court to the Judicial Commission (KY). The report, concerning alleged violations of the judicial code of ethics, was submitted to the KY through his lawyer.
“We have officially filed a report with the Judicial Commission regarding the case we are handling, the case of Nadiem Anwar Makarim at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court. Several of our reports relate to alleged violations of the judicial code of conduct. We emphasise that these reports are accompanied by concrete evidence,” said Nadiem’s lawyer, Ari Yusuf Amir, at the KY building in Central Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026).
The four judges reported are Presiding Judge Purwanto S Abdullah and three member judges, Sunoto, Eryusman, and Mardiantos. The panel of judges in Nadiem’s case itself consists of five people. The four judges reported are those who delivered the guilty verdict against Nadiem. Member judge Andi Saputra, who expressed a dissenting opinion, was not reported to the KY by Nadiem’s side.
“We are reporting the four judges who found Nadiem guilty. For us, a guilty verdict is perfectly legitimate, meaning differences of opinion are valid; that is the authority of the panel of judges. However, the manipulation of trial facts is what we regret,” Ari explained. “There, it is evident that many facts which should have been present in the verdict process were not presented, or conversely, facts that did not exist were instead presented in the verdict.”
Nadiem’s wife, Franka Makarim, expressed hope that the KY can deliver justice for her husband. She stated that Nadiem has followed and respected the ongoing legal process. “I am here today not only as the wife of Nadiem, who is experiencing a legal matter, but also as a citizen. We have been going through this for a year; my husband has been detained since 4 September 2025, and we have followed and undergone the legal process as required. We respect every step of this journey, and ultimately, we hope that justice will be upheld,” said Franka.
The Judicial Commission (KY) confirmed it has received the report from Nadiem. KY spokesperson Anita Kadir stated that the commission will analyse the report. “It is true, today the KY received a report and we will study and analyse it further,” Anita said when confirmed separately. She added that every public report will be processed according to regulations and that the KY has a mechanism for handling such reports. “If there is indeed a report related to conduct, it will be followed up according to the mechanism and procedures for handling public reports at the KY.”
The Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) said it respects the step taken by Nadiem. PN Jakpus spokesperson Muhammad Firman Akbar stated that filing such a report is the right of every citizen. “It is anyone’s right to report a court to the relevant authority under the law regarding alleged violations of the code of ethics in a trial,” said Firman Akbar. He declined to comment further on the report, stating that the court had not yet received official notification regarding the complaint against the four judges. “We have also not received official confirmation regarding this matter,” he said.
