Nadiem Officially Appeals 10-Year Sentence, to Report Four Judges to Judicial Commission
Nadiem Anwar Makarim has filed an appeal against the 10-year prison sentence handed down by the Jakarta Corruption Court. He also intends to report four of the judges who presided over his case to the Judicial Commission (KY).
Based on the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the Central Jakarta District Court on Saturday (4/7/2026), the public prosecutor has also officially filed an appeal. Nadiem registered his appeal on Wednesday (1 July), while the prosecutor filed theirs on Thursday (2 July).
Nadiem Makarim’s legal counsel, Ari Yusuf Amir, stated that the report to the KY would be submitted on Monday (6 July). The four judges to be reported are presiding judge Purwanto S Abdullah, along with panel members Sunoto, Mardiantos, and Eryusmas.
“Yes, that’s correct. We will come to the KY at 12 noon directly with Mr Nadiem’s wife,” he said when confirmed on Saturday (4/7/2026).
Nadiem is not reporting Judge Andi Saputra, who issued a dissenting opinion in the case. For the four judges being reported, Nadiem’s side believes there were violations of the code of ethics and manipulation of trial facts.
“We are reporting them for alleged violations of the judicial code of ethics and we suspect manipulation of trial facts. This includes not giving the defendant or legal counsel the opportunity to state whether they would appeal or accept the sentence,” Ari explained.
Nadiem Makarim was found guilty in a case of alleged corruption involving the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM). The judge sentenced him to imprisonment.
“Declaring the defendant Nadiem Anwar Makarim has been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption committed jointly as per the subsidiary indictment,” said presiding judge Purwanto S Abdullah while reading the verdict at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (30 June).
“Sentencing the defendant Nadiem Anwar Makarim to 10 years in prison,” the judge added.
The judge stated that the prosecutor’s primary indictment was not proven. Nadiem was found guilty under the subsidiary indictment, violating Article 604 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
Nadiem was also ordered to pay a fine of Rp 1 billion, with a subsidiary of 190 days of confinement, and restitution of Rp 809 billion. If Nadiem fails to pay, his assets may be seized and auctioned. If his assets are insufficient, the penalty will be replaced with 5 years of confinement.
