The panel of judges is ready to read out the verdict for former Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Anwar Makarim in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management (CDM). The verdict document for Nadiem exceeds 1,146 pages.

“And for this verdict, it is more than 1,146 pages. That is the complete document,” said presiding judge Purwanto S Abdullah at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (30/6/2026).

The judge requested consideration and approval from the public prosecutor and Nadiem’s legal team to read out the legal considerations section. The judge noted that the legal considerations alone amount to 122 pages.

“Now, for the legal considerations, there are 122 pages. We can read them efficiently, and hopefully we can finish without a break. That is if it is approved. What is the prosecutor’s response?” the judge asked.

The prosecutor agreed with the panel of judges’ proposal to read out the legal considerations in the verdict. Nadiem’s legal team also concurred.

“We agree, Your Honour,” the prosecutor stated.

“Thank you, Your Honour. In principle, we agree, but we hope that the verdict’s considerations will also outline the facts, the key facts that Your Honour has taken into account,” said Nadiem’s lawyer, Ari Yusuf Amir.

Nadiem was previously sentenced to 18 years in prison, a fine of Rp 1 billion, subsidiary to 190 days of confinement. In addition, the prosecutor demanded Nadiem pay restitution amounting to Rp 809,596,125,000 (809 billion) and Rp 4,871,469,603,758 (4.8 trillion), totalling Rp 5,681,066,728,758 (5.6 trillion), subsidiary to 9 years of confinement.

“We demand that the panel of judges declare the defendant Nadiem Anwar Makarim legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption jointly,” said prosecutor Roy Riady during the reading of the sentencing demand at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Wednesday (13/5).

The prosecutor is convinced that Nadiem violated Article 603 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
