Nadiem Makarim to Present Defence Brief in Chromebook Case Today
JAKARTA — The presentation of a defence brief by former Education, Culture, Research and Technology Minister Nadiem Makarim is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 June 2026. Makarim is the defendant in a case of alleged corruption related to the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops.
The hearing will take place at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) with Judge Purwanto S Abdullah presiding over the panel. The panel of judges has granted the defendant approximately three weeks to prepare the defence brief.
The court hopes this period can be utilised to aid Makarim’s recovery following surgery on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. According to medical advice, the recovery period following the procedure is expected to be approximately three to six weeks.
“The panel hopes this time can be used more optimally for recovery,” said Purwanto.
