JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Makarim will fulfil the documents requested by the panel of judges so that the transfer of his detention for the alleged corruption case in the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops can be considered by the judge.

“Yes, I am definitely committed to all the requests earlier; we will certainly comply,” Nadiem said after the hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court, on Monday (6/4/2026).

“Insyaallah, hopefully it can be granted, so I can recover without disrupting the trial process and undergo surgery without losing time in the trial; that’s the goal,” Nadiem added.

First, regarding the determination of the location if Nadiem is released from the detention centre, whether it is his home address or the city where he will reside.

Second, Nadiem is required to agree to being fitted with an electronic tracking device.

“This brother is required to report regularly to the public prosecutor. Of course, also to surrender his passport. We are anticipating concerns,” said Judge Purwanto during the hearing.

Furthermore, while under house detention, Nadiem must not contact or communicate with witnesses or parties who may be designated as suspects.

He is also prohibited from conducting interviews or providing statements to the media when his detention is transferred.

In addition, he is prohibited from creating content that could generate new opinions in his case.

“For example, while under detention, do not make vlogs or participate in interviews or create anything. The point is not to form other opinions,” the judge continued.

Nadiem is also required to be willing to be examined at the location determined.

“Furthermore, of course, willingness to attend the scheduled trial,” the judge added.
