Nabire (ANTARA) - The Nabire Police Resort deployed 200 personnel to secure the working visit of Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to Nabire Regency, Central Papua. Nabire Police Chief AKBP Samuel Tatiratu stated in Nabire on Monday that the deployment was intended to ensure the entire series of the Vice President’s visit proceeded safely and smoothly. “Personnel not only escorted the convoy but were also stationed at several points of public gatherings welcoming the Vice President,” he said. The Vice President’s visit to Nabire was brief, from 12:00 WIT to 16:00 WIT, before continuing to Mimika Regency. During the agenda, the Vice President, accompanied by the Governor of Central Papua, inspected several strategic infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Nabire Airport runway, the government centre area, and Nabire Port. Acting Regional Secretary of Central Papua Silwanus Sumule stated that cross-sectoral coordination had been carried out thoroughly, including security with combined TNI-Polri apparatus. According to him, the Vice President’s visit holds significant meaning in accelerating the development of Central Papua as a new autonomous region (DOB). “Most of the agenda has already proceeded, although there are still aspects that need to be optimised, particularly the development of the government centre,” he said. He hopes the working visit will serve as a momentum to show that governance in Central Papua continues to develop and catch up with other regions. “With the presence of the Vice President, we want to demonstrate that Central Papua has begun to move progressively in development,” he stated.
