Nabire (ANTARA) - Deputy Regent of Nabire Burhanuddin Pawennari called on the community to make Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri a momentum to strengthen harmony among religious communities in Nabire Regency, Central Papua.

“Eid al-Fitr is an opportunity for us to return to our innate nature, becoming individuals who are cleaner, more patient, and caring towards others,” said Burhanuddin in his speech during the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Grand Al Falah Mosque in Nabire on Saturday.

He explained that the local government continues to encourage the community to maintain social harmony amid the diversity of ethnicities, religions, and cultures in Nabire Regency.

The values instilled during Ramadan, such as sincerity, patience, togetherness, and social care, need to be continuously upheld in daily life.

“Make differences a strength to bind brotherhood, not as a separator,” he said.

As a community in a pluralistic area, he stated that Nabire residents must continue to nurture togetherness and unity as the main capital for regional development.

“Nabire is our shared home, so the spirit of togetherness, unity, and mutual respect must continue to be maintained,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Nabire Regency, K. H. Rohimin Abdul Rahman, in his sermon as the khatib during the Eid al-Fitr prayer, invited Muslims to reflect on the meaning of Ramadan in life, including maintaining relationships with God and fellow humans.

The Nabire Regency Government hopes that the Eid al-Fitr momentum can further strengthen harmony and unity in the midst of the Nabire Regency community. The implementation of Eid al-Fitr prayers in Nabire Regency itself proceeded with full solemnity.

Rain that poured in Nabire since Saturday morning did not dampen the residents’ enthusiasm to flock to the mosque to perform the Eid al-Fitr prayer worship.
