Nabilah O'Brien Named as Suspect in Defamation Case
The influencer and owner of the Bibi Kelinci restaurant in Kemang, South Jakarta, Nabilah O’Brien has been named as a suspect in a defamation case. The matter began when Zendhy Kusuma and his wife visited the restaurant on 19 September 2025 around 11:00 p.m. They ordered 14 dishes and drinks. Soon after, the two individuals allegedly intimidated staff by forcing entry into the kitchen, which is a restricted area for customers, causing a commotion, according to Nabilah’s lawyer, Goldie Natasya Swarovski, at a press conference in South Jakarta on Friday (6/3).
Based on CCTV footage, Zendhy Kusuma and his wife assaulted the head of kitchen Abdul Hamid. They also struck the chiller while threatening to ransack the restaurant.
Then, around midnight, Zendhy and his wife left the restaurant without paying for the food and drinks they had ordered. “Our staff, Rahmat, brought an EDC terminal to chase payment, but it was ignored. You can check this via CCTV, or via the client’s uploads,” Goldie said.
Goldie said that the day after, on 20 September 2025, Nabilah uploaded CCTV footage of the incident on her social media accounts.
Then, on 24 September, Nabilah sent a cease-and-desist letter, essentially asking Zendhy to issue a public apology. “In response, the cease-and-desist letter was replied, acknowledging that they did indeed take the food and drinks they had taken,” Goldie said. “But it’s odd that they counter-sued our client for Rp1 billion for the losses they claim from Nabilah’s posting,” she added.
Subsequently, Nabilah pursued legal action by reporting Zendhy and his wife to Mampang Police Station. However, Zendhy reportedly also reported Nabilah to Bareskrim Polri for defamation.
Two investigations into those reports ran. Finally, on 24 February 2026, Zendhy and his wife were named suspects in a theft case under Article 363 of the Penal Code. However, on the same date, the defendant was still being questioned at Bareskrim for additional statements, and the indictment as suspects was issued on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
Goldie said there were many irregularities in the decision to name Nabilah as a suspect, because the defamation accusation, allegations or slander against her do not meet criminal elements. “There was no malice from our client to attack anyone’s dignity. She didn’t know who she was posting to. It was simply the courage of a small business owner defending her business from bad acts by someone who harmed her staff and took her food without paying,” she said.
“Our client uploaded the CCTV footage not without reason. It was the truth, revealed for the public good, to prevent other entrepreneurs from suffering similar.”
Earlier, Humas Polda Metro Jaya head, Kombes Budi Hermanto said there were two cases at Nabilah’s restaurant. The first case is alleged theft under Article 363, handled by Mampang Prapatan Police. “Where NAA (Nabilah) as the victim reported ZK and ESR. Both suspects have been named and scheduled for examination on Monday, 9 March 2026, but her lawyer asked for postponement,” Budi said.
The second case involves posting CCTV footage on social media and is handled by Dittipidsiber Bareskrim Polri, where Nabilah is a reported party. “So understand, these are two separate cases with different objects. There are legal consequences for both sides,” he said. “Polri remains professional, proportional, and transparent in handling these cases,” he added.
