N. Jakarta prone to land disputes
JAKARTA (JP): Head of the Jakarta Provincial Prosecutors Office Suyoto said that the legal area of North Jakarta is prone to land disputes due to the high levels of growth in industry and population.
"The many demands for land for industrial development boost land prices. This leads to manipulation by certain persons and causes a wide variety of land conflicts," Suyoto said at the inauguration of Kata Bujur Ketaren as the new head of the North Jakarta Prosecutors Office on Thursday.
Ketaren, a former officer of the intelligence operation center of the Attorney General's Office, has replaced Faisal Daulay, who is now at the general criminal case directorate at the Attorney General's Office.
Suyoto told Antara that due to the sharply rising prices of land many people try to obtain property certificates by whatever means, regardless of whether they have any legitimate claim to the land.
Due to the potential for conflict, he urged Ketaren to pay greater attention to cases linked to the solution of land problems. (hhr)
