N. Jakarta police gets new chief
JAKARTA (JP): City Police Chief Maj. Gen. Dibyo Widodo yesterday installed Lt. Col. Abu Bakar Nataprawira, 44, as the new head of the North Jakarta police precinct.
Abu Bakar replace Lt. Col. Edi Darnadi, who has been promoted to secretary of the directorate of city crime investigation.
Dibyo praised Edi's success in combating crime during his eight-month tenure as shown by area's drop in the crime rate.
He asked Abu Bakar to intensify the fight against crime.
I know it's no easy job (to suppress crimes) here but I have no other choice than to do my best," Abu Bakar replied.
Edi, 44, is scheduled to start at his new post today to replace Lt. Col. Primanto, who will pursue his studies at the Command School.
Abu Bakar, married with three children, graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy in 1974.
He was formerly chief of the Tanah Abang police sub-precinct in Central Jakarta, head of the Tambora police sub-precinct in West Jakarta, deputy head of the Tangerang police, intelligence officer in South Kalimantan and an officer at the National Police Headquarters.
His previous position was a senior officer at the intelligence directorate at the National Police Headquarters. (bsr)
