Mystical ceremony organized at TMII

JAKARTA (JP): The Taman Mini park in East Jakarta will hold a mystical ceremony called Mandi Balimauan Gedang on Saturday night, as an expression of gratitude and to enhance the spirit of unity and solidarity throughout the nation.

The ceremony, which will take place in the Jambi pavilion, will be led by Jambi's chief clairvoyant, park spokesman Purno Wijaya told Antara.

During the ceremony, spirits believed to have magic power are invited to posses the clairvoyant.

Accompanied by the beating of drums and an antique gong, the clairvoyant will then make a herbal formula to be sprayed on the audience.

The ceremony will conclude with a prayer recital.

In Jambi, the ceremony is usually held by all the residents of Tebo regency once every three years.
