The fire that struck the Trans Home building store on Jalan Jogja-Solo, Kalitirto, Berbah, Sleman, had not been fully extinguished as of yesterday evening. The cause of the fire, which resulted in the deaths of two female employees, remains unknown.

Awaiting the Forensic Laboratory Team from Semarang

On Friday (2/10) morning, police lines were observed installed in front of the shop, at the rear, and in the motorcycle parking area. The Chief of Berbah Police, AKP Heri Nuglagroho, stated that his team is securing the location.

“The installation of police lines is to maintain the status quo. The crime scene investigation has not yet commenced, as we are waiting for the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) team from Semarang,” said Heri on Friday (2/10/2026).

Around 08:20 WIB, smoke was still billowing from the building. Police have cordoned off the front of the shop and closed the store gates. Police lines have also been placed at the rear of the premises.

Hundreds of Motorcycles Charred

In the eastern parking area, numerous charred motorcycles were scattered under police lines. Police revealed that approximately one hundred motorcycles were burnt in the incident.

“As of yesterday (1/10), the indication is 100 units. However, we have not yet verified the exact number. They are located there,” said the Chief of Berbah Police, AKP Heri Nugroho, when met by the media at the location on Friday (2/10/2026) morning.

“The condition of the motorcycles is that some are partially burnt while others remain intact on the side,” he added.

Separately, the Operations and Investigation Chief of the Sleman Satpol-PP Fire Department, Murtiyanto, stated that firefighting efforts for the first to third floors of the Trans Home store had been completed. Approximately 30 personnel from combined units, including the Fire Department, BPBD, PMI, and the police, were deployed to the site.

“The first, second, and third floors are under control; we are now in the cooling phase. However, the basement work is not yet finished,” he said.

Thick Smoke Reappears

On Friday (2/10) afternoon, thick smoke reappeared at the building store.

“The smoke is coming from the basement. If there is smoke, it means something is still burning inside,” said the Head of the Sleman Regency Satpol-PP Fire Department, Gunardi, at the location when asked for confirmation on Friday (2/10/2026) evening.

Gunardi noted that firefighting efforts at the Trans Home store are ongoing because the basement continues to emit smoke, particularly from the entrance.

“Smoke is coming from the western entrance because there are many flammable materials inside. Traffic was temporarily congested,” he said.

The Coordinator of the Sleman SAR Alert Unit, Basarnas Yogyakarta, Dedi Prasety, stated that the Fire Department is still conducting firefighting operations in the basement area.

“This afternoon, the Fire Department teams were still carrying out firefighting, especially in the basement area,” he explained to detikJogja.

“Our duty with Basarnas has concluded; our role is limited to evacuating any human lives that are threatened or in danger,” he added.

Two Employees Killed

It was previously reported that the fire at the Trans Home building store began around 13:00 WIB on Thursday (1/10). Two employees trapped inside the store were eventually found deceased.

“We found them in a state of no breathing and no pulse. They were subsequently taken to the Bhayangkara Hospital,” said the coordinator of the Sleman SAR Alert Unit, Basarnas Yogyakarta, Dedi Prasety, at the location on Thursday (1/10/2026) night.

Dedi stated that the combined firefighting team began operations at 14:00 WIB. Initial information indicated that two employees were trapped.

“The first victim was evacuated in about eight minutes, and the second in about seven minutes, totaling 15 minutes. The victims were found on the third floor, near the stairs,” he said.

“The victims were identified as Mrs W and Mrs S. The cause of the fire cannot be confirmed yet; we will coordinate with the police later,” Dedi continued.

Nawa Murtiyanto, the Operations and Investigation Chief of the Sleman Satpol-PP Fire Department, explained that the burnt area covers approximately 2,000 square metres.

“Because the situation was difficult, extra handling was required. There were many household goods that are highly flammable,” he told journalists at the scene.
