Mystery Surrounds Death of Two Nigerian Nationals and Critical Condition of Another in West Jakarta Apartment
The discovery of two deceased Nigerian nationals in an apartment in the Cengkareng area of West Jakarta remains shrouded in mystery. A third individual was found in a critical condition. The three Nigerian men were found inside an apartment room on Monday, 1 June 2026. The cause of death for the two victims is not yet known. Police stated that no signs of violence were found on the bodies of the victims. Nonetheless, authorities are continuing to investigate to determine the sequence of events and the cause of death.
The victims were first discovered by a colleague, also a Nigerian national. The case is currently under police investigation.
The head of public relations for the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Wisnu, revealed the initial circumstances of the discovery. It began when their colleague visited the apartment after the three could not be contacted. “Initially, the victim’s friend tried to contact them but could not get through. The witness is a friend of the victims, also a foreign national,” said AKP Wisnu on Thursday (4/6). After receiving no response, the colleague contacted the apartment management. Following the report, security personnel and an apartment technician opened the victims’ room and found the three individuals lying inside the apartment unit.
“The victim’s friend then contacted security and a technician to open the apartment. The security and technician subsequently opened the apartment,” he explained. When the apartment was opened, two victims were already found lifeless. Meanwhile, one other person was found alive and was rushed to hospital.
Separately, the head of public relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, explained the three victims were discovered on Monday (1/6/2026) at around 21.00 WIB. “Correct, on Monday, 1 June 2026 at around 21.00 WIB, three foreign nationals were found at City Park Apartment, East Cengkareng, West Jakarta,” said Budi Hermanto in a statement. The three victims were identified as CD (27), II (34), and OSO (39). Of the three, two were pronounced dead. “Of the three individuals, two males with the initials CD (27) and II (34) were pronounced dead, and the cause of death is still pending results, whilst one male with the initials OSO (39) was found unconscious,” he clarified.
Meanwhile, AKP Wisnu stated the surviving victim is currently being treated at Budha Tzu Chi Hospital. “Based on the initial examination, no signs of violence were found on the bodies of the two deceased victims,” said Wisnu. The police are currently continuing their investigation into the incident. Authorities are also still probing the cause of death of the two victims and the critical condition of the third. “The investigation is still ongoing by the West Jakarta Metro Police to ascertain the cause of the incident,” said Commissioner Budi Hermanto.
