Mystery Death of Man in Bintaro with Gunshot Wound to Head; Police Discover 9mm Firearm and 3 Airsoft Guns
Jakarta — A man with the initials BAS, aged 54, was discovered dead with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was found lifeless in a residence on Jalan Deplu I RT 001/RW 03, Bintaro Village, Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta.
The incident occurred on Friday, 6 March 2026. This information was disclosed by Pesanggrahan Police Sub-Precinct Chief, Police Commissioner Seala Syah Alam.
“After conducting a crime scene inspection, we immediately coordinated with the Police Hospital to carry out an autopsy in order to determine whether any other criminal act had occurred,” he stated, as quoted on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
He revealed that the incident was first discovered by residents after a neighbour’s dog had been barking continuously since the morning. One witness then checked the area around the victim’s home and managed to see the victim’s legs from the direction of the bedroom or workspace.
After returning to the location following Friday prayers, the witness found the victim had already passed away with blood visible on his face and mattress.
“The residents then reported the incident to the police through the emergency hotline 110,” he said.
Officers subsequently arrived at the location and conducted a crime scene investigation. The officers also evacuated the body to the Police Hospital at Kramat Jati for autopsy.
Seala added that from the scene, officers also discovered one firearm and three airsoft guns, which were then secured for further examination.
“Regarding the weapons, we from the police force will naturally coordinate with the Directorate of Internal Security of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, specifically the Firearms Sub-Directorate, to conduct an investigation into the ownership of the firearm. As there are several items—one firearm and three airsoft guns,” he said.
He explained that the firearm discovered at the scene was a 9-millimetre calibre weapon. Police have also confirmed that the firearm does not have a valid ownership permit.
Additionally, the police are still investigating the origin of the weapon. “We are currently conducting a deeper investigation,” Seala said.
