Mystery Before Dr Myta's Death Revealed: Never Took a Day Off Until Last Message
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Intern doctor Myta Aprilia Azmy passed away after undergoing intensive care in the ICU at RSUP Dr Mohammad Hoesin (RSMH) Palembang. The doctor, who had been participating in an internship programme at RSUD KH Daud Arif in Kuala Tungkal, Jambi, since last August, breathed her last on Friday (1/5/2026). Myta’s passing has drawn public attention following suspicions that she suffered from exhaustion due to an excessive workload during her internship period. Amid the scrutiny over the alleged excessive workload, the Ministry of Health revealed Myta’s final voice recording before her condition deteriorated. At that time, Myta admitted to having a fever of up to 40 degrees Celsius. In the conversation, Myta’s colleague on duty in the emergency department, dr D, inquired about Myta’s condition, which appeared unwell. “‘Why do you look so ill?’ like that. Myta said, ‘Yes, Brother, cough, cold, Brother, fever, really hot. Dizzy, can’t open my eyes like that,’” said Rudi, imitating the content of Myta’s voice recording during a press conference at the Ministry of Health office in South Jakarta on Thursday (7/5/2026). In the subsequent recording, Myta admitted to having already taken 1,000 milligrams of paracetamol to reduce the fever. “My breath is hot. My nose is hot, everything is hot like this. That hot, Ren indeed. But I’m shivering. ‘Drink, drink’ said Brother (dr D). ‘Just take off your mask,’” Myta recounted to her friend. Myta explained that she was eventually given lansoprazole medicine, and dr D suggested that Myta remove her mask to make it easier to take the medicine. “I was wearing a mask, I had a cough and cold, afraid like that. ‘Just take it off so you can breathe comfortably. Nauseous, Brother. Feels like vomiting.’ So, the medicine was taken, lansoprazole, usually anyway,” Myta recounted to her friend.
