Mysterious Vivo Phone Emerges at MWC 2026, Allegedly X300 Max
KOMPAS.com reports that the Chinese smartphone vendor Vivo reportedly secretly showcased a new phone from the Vivo X300 series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Barcelona. The device is said to be the Vivo X300 Max, a model that had long been rumoured. The phone appeared as Vivo focused on promoting the Vivo X300 Ultra, the flagship camera phone variant of the X300 series that is said to be imminent. The Vivo X300 Max was displayed in a mysterious manner and without much explanation. One piece of evidence: the phone was not labelled as “Vivo X300 Max”, but rather listed as just another member of the X300 series. Then, the phone’s body was shrouded in a full black casing, complete with a security tether so it could not be freely taken away. There, visitors could still see the Zeiss T* logo. This indicates that the phone’s camera also comes with a special coating to reduce reflections, flare, and ghosting that often appear during night photography or under opposing lighting conditions. With this technology, the resulting photos are said to be clearer and maintain contrast even in low light. This also indicates that the camera on the Vivo X300 Max will still be tuned by the renowned German optical maker Zeiss. On the screen side, users could apparently freely test camera features (macro photography, document mode) and even glimpse the device’s innards. According to photos published by GizmoChina, the phone carries model number V258A. The hardware is not detailed clearly. The mystery surrounding the mysterious phone at the Vivo booth at MWC 2026 was further reinforced by tipster Roland Quandt. He identified the device as the Vivo X300 Max. Quandt linked it to the device coded V258A, believed to be related to the model V2548A that previously appeared in 3C certification documents in China. The documents also revealed that the device potentially supports 90-watt wired charging. On the specifications side, rumours say the Vivo X300 Max will be equipped with a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1440p resolution. The most interesting part is the battery capacity. The device is said to carry a battery of around 7,000 mAh, a capacity very large for a flagship smartphone.
