A pink suitcase left behind by an unknown person caused alarm among residents of Banjar Batan Poh, Pandak Gede Village, Kediri District, Tabanan, on Tuesday (7/7/2026). The discovery prompted village officials and the police to take precautionary measures by deploying the Gegana bomb squad.

Pandak Gede Village Head I Made Topik Wibawa, when confirmed on Wednesday (8/7/2026), explained that the incident began around 1:00 p.m. local time. At that time, a resident saw a man walking and then placing a suitcase at the location. The discovery was subsequently reported to the neighbourhood head.

To verify the information, village officials checked CCTV footage located approximately 20 metres from the site. “The results showed a man walking from the south carrying and then leaving the suitcase before continuing his journey northwards. The identity of the man remains unknown to this day,” said Topik Wibawa.

At around 3:00 p.m. local time, the neighbourhood head reported the incident to the Pandak Gede Village Babinsa. The report was then forwarded to the Kediri Police Sector. Following up on the report, the Kediri Police Chief and his personnel, followed by the Gegana Team, arrived at the location.

During the handling process, the public was asked not to approach or open the suitcase for safety reasons. “After being opened by the Gegana Team, the suitcase was confirmed to be empty and no dangerous or suspicious items were found,” he stressed.

The village administration explained that initially residents did not pay much attention to the suitcase, assuming it was just rubbish discarded by an irresponsible person. However, after it was discovered that someone had deliberately left it, the incident was immediately reported to the authorities.

The village government also urged the public to remain vigilant regarding suspicious items found in public spaces. Residents are asked to report immediately to village officials or the police and not to take action themselves. “Although it caused concern, we confirm that the inspection results ensure there was no threat, dangerous goods, or elements related to criminal activity from the suitcase,” he concluded.
