Mysterious Package with Mini Pocong Toys Sparks Panic in Lendah, Kulon Progo

A mysterious package was received by a resident of Padukuhan Bangeran, Kalurahan Bumirejo, Kapanewon Lendah, in Kulon Progo. Upon opening, the package contained two small pocong toys and a note explaining its contents.

The package addressed to Sujarwo Prasetyo arrived on Monday (25 May) morning. He claimed he had not ordered anything and the package was prepaid.

“No one ordered it, and I didn’t order anything myself. Suddenly, a courier arrived around 9:30 AM WIB delivering a prepaid package,” Sujarwo told reporters on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

Unfortunately, his wife received the package and opened it immediately. Upon seeing the contents, she was startled and screamed.

“My wife opened it and found a pair of pocong toys inside. She was so shocked she screamed,” he said.

The package was sent from Pacitan, East Java, with no sender’s phone number listed, only a home address and name. He stated he has had no disputes with anyone.

Sujarwo explained that along with the pocong toys, there was a note stating: “We sell small pocong toys for horror-themed room decorations. 100% no supernatural or mystical elements. If you did not purchase this item or it’s a prank from a friend, burn it. Do not use it for anything illegal.”

He decided to burn the package in front of neighbours and local police officers to prevent further distress. He has not reported the incident to the police.

“No report was filed, but the Lendah police station was present when it was opened. If another similar package arrives tomorrow, I will report it. I burned it because I was worried about causing fear,” he said.

Separately, Head of Public Relations for Kulon Progo Regional Police, Inspector Sarjoko, confirmed that police had visited the scene. He stated the recipient had not yet filed a formal report.

“Officers have visited the scene. The package was indeed sent containing pocong toys. The recipient has not yet made a report,” Sarjoko said.

Sarjoko urged the public not to worry excessively about the package delivery.
