MyCEB opens new sustainable business opportunities between Indonesia and Malaysia
The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) exhibition is regarded as a platform for strengthening business relations between Indonesia and Malaysia in building sustainable industry partnerships while opening new business opportunities in the business events sector between the two countries.
MyCEB Chief Executive Officer Tan Mei Phing said Indonesia is one of the important markets for Malaysia’s business events. Therefore, strengthening relations with Indonesian industry partners is part of MyCEB’s priorities.
“Through this promotional mission, we reaffirm our commitment to building closer partnerships, creating new business opportunities, and showcasing Malaysia’s strengths as a world-class business events destination,” Tan said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
The activity is part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) roadshow, which brought together 20 Malaysian industry partners with travel agents, corporate meeting planners, incentive travel organisers, and business events industry stakeholders in Indonesia.
Through business-to-business (B2B) meetings, networking sessions, and destination presentations, industry players from both countries were given space to expand their networks, explore cooperation, and build opportunities for future meetings, incentive travel, conventions, and exhibitions.
According to Tan, the long-established relationship between Indonesian and Malaysian industry players is an important asset for creating sustainable cooperation. Geographic proximity, flight connectivity, and cultural similarities are also supporting factors for developing the business events market in both countries.
MyCEB considers strengthening this cooperation important as business travel in the region picks up again. Closer collaboration is expected not only to generate more business events activities but also to create long-term business relationships between Indonesian and Malaysian industry players.
On the other hand, business events have a broad economic contribution because business travellers tend to have higher spending and longer stays. These activities also have an impact on various sectors, from hospitality, transportation, retail, food and beverage to other tourism sectors.
With Indonesia remaining one of the main regional markets, MyCEB is committed to strengthening cooperation with industry stakeholders in Indonesia to attract more quality business events to Malaysia.
The move is expected to create new economic opportunities for businesses in both countries while strengthening Indonesia-Malaysia business relations sustainably in Southeast Asia.
