Myanmar wins SEA canoeing c'ships

BANGKOK (AFP): Myanmar has scooped the pool at the Southeast
Asian canoeing championships in Yangon, dominating rivals from
six other nations, a junta statement said Saturday.

Myanmar took top honors in the men's 1000-meter single kayak
event, followed by Indonesia and Vietnam in third place, the
junta said.

Myanmar won first prize in all categories listed in the
statement, including the women's 1000-meter single, double and
quadruple kayak events, the men's 1000-meter double canoe and
quadruple kayak categories, it said.

Teams from Brunei, Cambodia, the Philippines, Singapore,
Thailand and Vietnam traveled to Yangon for the inaugural
championships, which wind up later Saturday.
