Myanmar triumphant ASEAN soccer

PALEMBANG, South Sumatra (Antara): Myanmar proved itself a future contender for soccer supremacy in the region, winning the ASEAN U-20 championship with a 1-0 defeat of pre-competition favorite Malaysia in the final on Friday.

Marksman Hla Aye Htwe scored the winning goal from outside the penalty box when the match, played in Palembang, South Sumatra. was only two minutes old.

Host Indonesia failed to reach the semifinals, after finishing third behind Malaysia in the group stage.
