My lesson in life

My lesson in life

From Kompas

Lured by an advertisement and a nonbinding invitation by Ibu
Ester, a friend and I went for a meeting to obtain further
information on "Lessons for Life" on June 29.

I told Bapak Nico there of my intention to enroll for the
lessons and he referred me to Bapak Hary, who asked me whether I
had Rp 2,240,000 with me. I answered in the negative. "Do you
have a credit card?" was the next question. I said I did, but
added that I would not be able to obtain a sufficient amount from
them. My two cards would yield Rp 740,000 only. "If you have an
ATM card, take out the difference. I will be waiting for you." I
was annoyed and asked whether I could settle the balance the next
day. He considered the matter for a while and said OK.

I started to have doubts about Lessons for Life because of the
way they asked for payment. The next day though I went to pay the
balance and met assistant director Ibu Winda. I inquired, "What
is Lessons for Life a franchise from?" She responded with a
question "What is a franchise?" I said: "Do you not know what a
franchise is?" I had more doubts.

The next day I asked director Ibu Lydia Halim directly whether
I could cancel the deal. She said it was not possible except if
it was transferred to another person.

I stated on the telephone and by facsimile and letter that I
would like my money back. I have done so three times but have not
received any reply.

I would advise interested parties of Lessons for Life to
reconsider their intentions because in my case the amount of Rp
2,240,000 has not been refunded.
