MXGP Samota Land Purchase Appraisal Team Sentenced to 2 and 2.5 Years in Prison
The head of the Public Appraisal Services Office (KJPP), Pung Saifullah Zulkarnaen, has been sentenced to two years in prison. Pung’s subordinate, Muhammad Jan, who served as the KJPP branch head, was also sentenced to two years and six months, or 2.5 years, in prison.
Pung and Jan were sentenced during a trial at the Mataram District Court on Monday (3/8/2026) in connection with the corruption case surrounding the land acquisition for the MXGP Circuit in Samota, Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in 2022. Both individuals acted as the appraisal team at the time.
Public prosecutor Arifuddin Achmad first read out the sentence demand for Pung. "Sentencing the defendant to two years in prison," Arifuddin demanded. The prosecutor also requested that the judge impose a criminal fine of Rp 500 million on Pung. If the fine is not paid, the prosecution requested that it be replaced with a custodial sentence of 140 days.
For Jan, in addition to a prison sentence six months longer than Pung’s, the prosecution also asked the panel of judges to impose a fine of Rp 500 million. Jan is also required to serve a substitute custodial sentence of 140 days if he fails to pay the fine.
The prosecution assessed that Pung and Jan had been proven guilty in the corruption case concerning the land acquisition for the MXGP Circuit in Samota, Sumbawa. Pung and Jan were found to have violated Article 603 in conjunction with Article 20 letter a or b of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
Pung and Jan were defendants in the MXGP Samota land acquisition corruption case alongside the former Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) for Sumbawa and Central Lombok, NTB, Subhan. The land purchase for the MXGP circuit in Samota was carried out by the Sumbawa Regency Government. The 70-hectare plot was purchased from former East Lombok Regent Ali Bin Dachlan for a price of Rp 52 billion. Investigators found state losses in the land purchase process amounting to Rp 6.7 billion, which have since been returned to the NTB High Prosecutor’s Office by Ali BD as the payment recipient. At the time of the land acquisition, Subhan served as the Head of BPN Sumbawa and acted as the chairman of the land acquisition executive, whilst Pung and Jan served as the appraisal team from KJPP.
