Muzani's Halalbihalal Visit with Muhammadiyah Leader, Discusses Geopolitical Situation
Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia, Ahmad Muzani, visited Haedar Nashir, General Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, in Bantul, Yogyakarta. Muzani stated that the purpose of visiting Haedar Nashir was for halalbihalal.
“Yes, today we are paying a visit to the General Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Professor Haedar Nashir. First, this is still in the atmosphere of Eid al-Fitr, Lebaran; I haven’t met him and Mrs Haedar yet,” Muzani told reporters in Yogyakarta on Sunday (5/4/2026).
“Today I visited Jogja to pay respects and convey minal aidin wal faidzin, apologies for any physical and spiritual shortcomings,” he added.
In addition to halalbihalal, Muzani mentioned that the purpose of his visit was to discuss state matters and the geopolitical situation. According to him, the discussions and issues addressed could connect thoughts as well as strengthen relations.
“Second, during the visit, we talked a lot about state affairs, the geopolitical situation, and other issues. I think we had quite extensive discussions with him; our thoughts connected, our relations connected, and our discussions connected on several important matters,” he said.
Muzani said he had informed President Prabowo Subianto of his visit to Yogyakarta. During the visit, Muzani conveyed Prabowo’s respectful greetings to figures, ulama, and leaders of Islamic boarding schools that he would visit while in Jogja.
“Yes, I informed him that I would visit Yogyakarta, and he conveyed respectful greetings to the figures, ulama, and leaders of the Islamic boarding schools we would visit, including to Prof Haedar and Mrs Haedar. I passed that on to Mr Prabowo, and he conveyed those respectful greetings,” he stated.
On the same occasion, Haedar Nashir expressed thanks for the visit, halalbihalal, and Muzani’s arrival at his residence. In the meeting, he revealed discussions on addressing geopolitics.
“In facing global geopolitics, we discussed that our strongest asset is unity. So when we unite to face any global political situation, no matter how heavy, Indonesia, insyaallah, will be able to handle it,” said Haedar Nashir.
“We believe that President Prabowo, with a constitutional spirit and safeguarding Indonesia’s sovereignty, will lead Indonesia based on principles of independence, justice, and civilised humanity in guiding global political orientation, including defending Palestine,” he added.
