Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Ahmad Muzani, along with an Indonesian delegation, will depart for Iran tomorrow evening to attend the funeral procession of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Muzani stated that the delegation is scheduled to fly from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base directly to Mashhad, the city where the late leader will be laid to rest. The group is expected to arrive on Friday morning.

The delegation’s composition remains as previously announced, with Muzani accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono and several religious scholars, though the names of the scholars have not yet been disclosed. Muzani confirmed that the Indonesian representatives will not stay overnight in Iran. Following the funeral and a subsequent visit to the tomb, the delegation is scheduled to meet with the Iranian Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament before immediately returning to Jakarta.

President Prabowo Subianto personally appointed Muzani and Sugiono as special envoys to attend the funeral. Muzani had earlier announced the plan on his official Instagram account, stating that he and the Foreign Minister were dispatched by the President to attend the funeral procession of the late Supreme Leader in Mashhad on 9 July.
