Chairman of the MPR RI, Ahmad Muzani, responded to the dynamics of the war between the US-Israel and Iran. He hopes that ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the countries in the Persian Gulf region will exercise restraint so that the war does not escalate and spread.

According to him, a reduction in the intensity of the war will provide assurance for Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Fitr safely and peacefully. That is why Muzani urged that the US-Israel war with Iran be stopped.

“We are grateful that the leaders of the Gulf countries can exercise restraint. This is as a respect for Muslims to be able to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr moment safely and peacefully. We are also grateful that Saudi Arabia, as the guardian of the two Holy Lands of Mecca and Medina, can guarantee the smooth continuation of Umrah worship so far,” said Muzani in his statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

Muzani continued that if the war is stopped, global difficulties such as the oil crisis will have a positive impact on the world economy. Moreover, Muslims will soon perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Therefore, it is important for all countries to engage in dialogue, prioritising diplomacy as the key to peace.

“We have witnessed the world for decades in a state of peace through diplomacy. Therefore, it is important for every leader to return to diplomatic dialogue as the main way to create peace,” explained Muzani.

Muzani stated that since the US-Israel war with Iran broke out, Indonesia under the leadership of President Prabowo has been very responsive in playing an active role in stopping the war. Although the implications of President Prabowo’s joining the Board of Peace have sparked debate among Indonesian society.

“Differences in views are normal in a democratic country like Indonesia. However, spaces for dialogue remain a priority, that the president’s stance is an effort in diplomacy so that peace can be achieved. This is what was done by our previous leaders in the early days of independence,” explained Muzani.

Finally, Muzani urged Indonesians not to be easily divided due to differing views. According to him, unity and integrity are paramount so that Indonesia can become a strong nation and be considered in the global world ahead.

“We must not be easily provoked by sensitive issues that can divide our unity. As citizens, we must build a sense of trust in our leader, our government, our President. With strong trust, Indonesia will not be easily divided,” concluded Muzani.
